Wells Fargo is expanding its AI game with a big rollout of Google Cloud’s generative AI agents. The bank is bringing AI tools to everyone—from customer service reps to executives—via the Google Agentspace platform.

The update lets employees find and summarize info faster, automate tasks, and handle complicated policies with AI support. They can also build custom AI agents for specific needs.

This makes Wells Fargo one of the first major banks to fully embrace AI agents across its whole operation.

Here’s where the AI agents will jump in:

  • In corporate and investment banking, AI will handle complex foreign exchange queries, navigate internal data, and offer real-time market insights.
  • For contract management, AI will sift through 250,000 vendor agreement documents to find specific clauses and terms.
  • Customer service AI will answer balance questions and replace debit cards, freeing bankers to tackle tougher issues and give tailored advice.
  • Internal operations will get AI help with data analysis and research using Google’s NotebookLM on Agentspace.
  • Company search will add multimodal capabilities—meaning employees can search using images and ask questions about policies and tools.

AI adoption isn’t smooth for everyone. A PYMNTS report says only 15% of CFOs are ready to deploy agentic AI, often due to trust concerns. But Wells Fargo and Google say they’re focusing on responsible AI and internal governance to stay compliant.

The bank is clear about its AI vision:

“This collaboration marks a defining moment for agentic deployment in financial services…”

“The journey is just beginning, but the vision is clear: a future where generative AI empowers every employee at Wells Fargo, transforming how they work, collaborate and serve customers.”

This expansion marks a major step in the bank’s AI push. The widespread rollout could reshape how banking work gets done.
