Waymo just launched Spotify integration for its robotaxis in San Francisco. No more stuck with bland preset music or messy Google Assistant shortcuts. Now, riders can link their Spotify accounts directly in the Waymo app and play their own playlists on the car’s touchscreen.

The setup is simple: open Waymo’s app, find the new “Music” section, and authorize Spotify to connect. Once linked, the vehicle automatically picks up your exact spot in a podcast or song when you hop in. Autoplay can be toggled on or off to start playback as soon as you enter.

Controlling music is a breeze too. You can switch tracks from the touchscreen or use your phone’s Spotify app, just like Apple CarPlay or Bluetooth speakers. You can even adjust bass, treble, and subwoofer levels to your liking.

This update makes the Waymo ride feel more like your own personal space — a key factor in why riders pick robotaxis over regular cars. Apple Music support is reportedly on Waymo’s radar, but no timeline was given.

Waymo spokesperson Chris Bonelli told TechCrunch:

“The company is always exploring new personalization options, but did not clarify when the company might add an Apple Music integration.”

This move patches a long-standing annoyance with Waymo’s music options. After years of high-tech driving, finally getting easy, reliable streaming is a small but welcome upgrade toward smoother user experience.
