Google has launched Search Live for AI Mode, letting you chat with its AI while using other apps. The new feature runs in the background. You keep your conversation going without interruptions.

Tap the new “transcript” button to view responses as text and keep asking questions by typing. Missed something? Head to your AI Mode history to pick up where you left off.

Under the hood, Search Live uses a custom version of Gemini with advanced voice capabilities. The model is built on Google’s quality and information systems, promising solid, reliable answers.

Search Live also pulls from a wider web content mix using a “query fan-out” technique, expanding what you can explore with your questions.

You’ll find Search Live’s icon right under the search bar once you opt in to AI Mode via Labs. Google invites users to test it now and share feedback.

Coming soon: real-time camera support for showing Search what you see during voice interactions.
