Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic just got greenlit by the U.S. government to offer AI services to civilian federal agencies. They’re now on the approved vendor list for the new federal contracting tool, the Multiple Awards Schedule (MAS).
MAS lets agencies access AI vendors through pre-set contracts. No haggling needed. The General Services Administration (GSA), which runs MAS, said they vetted the companies on security and performance.
This move follows White House orders from President Donald Trump pushing AI development and tweaking energy rules for data centers. It also demands federal AI tools be “free from ideological bias.”
Bloomberg broke the news on August 5.
This update corrects the previous mistake on the MAS abbreviation.
