TotalEnergies and French startup Mistral AI are teaming up to ramp up AI use across TotalEnergies’ energy operations. The focus: boosting low-carbon energy and cutting emissions.

The two companies will build a joint AI innovation lab, combining Mistral AI’s tech chops with TotalEnergies’ energy expertise. First projects include an AI assistant for 1,000 researchers to speed energy R&D, decision-support tools to optimize industrial assets and cut CO₂, plus solutions to enhance customer experience and energy savings.

Digital sovereignty in Europe is also on the radar, with a plan to explore AI infrastructure options for TotalEnergies.
