Taiwanese Actor Changes Careers, Now Selling Chicken, Managing Pilates Studio, and Working as DJ
Kris Shen is facing surprise and curiosity after fans found out about his side job at a wet market.
The Taiwanese actor, known for dramas like Spider Lilies (2007) and Memory Love (2017), shocked fans when photos of him working at a raw chicken stall surfaced. He was seen cutting and marinating chicken by himself, a big departure from his usual screen image.
Although Kris has around 46,000 Instagram followers, this wet market job surprised many. He runs the stall with his girlfriend, Bella, to earn extra money.
On January 8, Kris posted on Instagram explaining the reason behind the new hustle. He said friends told him that market stalls could make NT $80,000 to NT $120,000 (around $2,550 to $3,800 USD). His own stall has been open for over three months, earning about NT $20,000 (approximately $640 USD) monthly.

Kris also revealed he has other income sources, including a restaurant and an aesthetic clinic. Despite the unusual job, Kris said he’s used to working hard and doesn’t mind how the public sees him.
His last known acting role was the lead character Li Yuan Zhi in the 2022 drama Rally for Love. But Kris is moving on. He now runs a pilates studio and has started a career as a DJ in Taiwan and abroad.
Fans are still processing the actor’s new direction, but Kris seems content with his non-glamorous income streams. The wet market work is just one part of his busy life these days.
