Samsung is exploring wearables beyond watches and glasses — including earrings, necklaces, and rings.

The company wants AI-powered devices you wear, not carry. COO Won-joon Choi told CNN they’re “looking at all kinds of possibilities.”

“We believe it should be wearable, something that you shouldn’t carry, (that) you don’t need to carry,”
Choi said.

“So it could be something that you wear, glasses, earrings, watches, rings and sometimes (a) necklace.”

Samsung’s smart glasses are in the works, but they admit some users don’t want to wear glasses. That’s why other form factors are getting a close look.

AI is driving a push for devices that do more with less screen time. Unlike smartphones, these would be hands-free companions.

Other companies have tried and failed in this space. Humane’s AI Pin tanked because of buggy performance and high price. The startup behind it folded and sold assets to HP. The Rabbit R1 had a slow start too, while a startup called Friend is still working on an AI necklace launch.

Samsung’s approach won’t replace phones; their devices will complement them, like smartwatches do now.

“We are actively working on glasses, but some people do not want to wear glasses because they change their look,”
said Choi.

“So we are also exploring other types of devices.”
