Amazon-owned Ring is rolling out AI-powered detailed motion alerts for its doorbells and cameras. Starting today, subscribers to Ring Home Premium in the U.S. and Canada get precise text notifications about activity, such as “A person is walking up the steps with a black dog” or “Two individuals are looking into a white car parked in the driveway.”
This replaces Ring’s older, vague alerts with text summarizing the first few seconds of motion clips. Users can disable the feature anytime through the Ring app settings.
Ring’s founder and Amazon VP of home security Jamie Siminoff revealed more AI features on the way. One will merge multiple motion events into single alerts. Another will offer “custom anomaly alerts” letting users define what counts as unusual activity. Ring also plans to “learn your routine” and flag deviations.
This raises privacy eyebrows, considering Ring’s rocky past.

The launch follows Ring’s recent AI-powered search tool that helps users find specific moments in videos.
