Perplexity AI launched a new AI-powered web browser called Comet. The browser targets rivals like Google and Microsoft with built-in voice and text AI that connects to apps like Slack.
Comet is live now for Perplexity Max subscribers, who pay $200 per month. Invite-only access will open to a waitlist through the summer.
Perplexity claims Comet aims to "amplify our intelligence," letting users ask complex questions and get quick answers while integrating enterprise tools.
The startup is known for its AI search engine, which faced plagiarism claims last year and responded by creating a revenue-sharing model with publishers.
Perplexity is also in late talks to raise $500 million at a $14 billion valuation and reportedly had acquisition discussions with Meta earlier this year.
Perplexity’s statement on Comet:
"We will continue to launch new features and functionality for Comet, improve experiences based on your feedback, and focus relentlessly–as we always have–on building accurate and trustworthy AI that fuels human curiosity."
