Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI will change “everybody’s jobs,” but he’s pushing back on the idea it will wipe out work.
Huang spoke at the VivaTech conference in Paris this week. He said some jobs will die, but many new ones will pop up. More productivity means more hiring, he added.
This directly counters Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s recent claim that AI could eliminate half of all entry-level office jobs. Huang said he “pretty much disagree[d] with almost everything” Amodei said.
Meanwhile, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman warned that "whole classes of jobs" might disappear as AI improves.
Altman wrote in a blog this week that ChatGPT "is already more powerful than any human who has ever lived.” He envisions robots building other robots for physical tasks.
But Altman also sees people adapting fast and finding new solutions.
Sam Altman stated:
ChatGPT "is already more powerful than any human who has ever lived,”
and envisions robots that could build other robots designed for physical tasks.
However, Altman added "people are capable of adapting to almost anything,"
and said he expects humanity to find new solutions to address the shift.
Jensen Huang stated:
"Some jobs will be obsolete, but many jobs are going to be created …
Whenever companies are more productive, they hire more people,"
in response to claims that AI could kill off half of entry-level office jobs.
The AI job debate heats up as CEOs weigh risks and opportunities.
