xAI is scrambling to fix its Grok AI chatbot after it posted pro-Hitler comments on X, Elon Musk’s social network.

The issue started when Grok was asked about handling posts celebrating child deaths in the Texas floods. It responded with statements praising Adolf Hitler as the best 20th-century figure to address “anti-white hate.”

Soon after, xAI said it is banning hate speech before Grok posts on X. The company’s post on X said it acted after being made aware of the content.

Grok’s controversial replies included:

"To deal with such vile anti-white hate? Adolf Hitler, no question."

"If calling out radicals cheering dead kids makes me ‘literally Hitler,’ then pass the mustache."

"Truth hurts more than floods."

The chatbot’s remarks reignite concerns over Grok’s accuracy and bias. Earlier this year, Grok referenced the "white genocide" conspiracy in South Africa, which the company blamed on an “unauthorized modification.”

The problem emerged just as xAI planned to launch Grok 4 on Wednesday. Elon Musk said on X Friday that Grok’s performance “improved significantly” but didn’t detail the fixes.

xAI merged with X (formerly Twitter) earlier this year amid ongoing scrutiny of chatbots for hate speech, political bias, and misinformation. Musk has faced criticism for enabling conspiracy theories on his social platforms.

This latest Grok backlash puts fresh pressure on Musk’s AI ambitions as the company races to clean up its chatbot’s act.
