Microsoft Bing is rolling out the new Bing Video Creator, allowing users to generate videos from text prompts using OpenAI’s Sora model. This marks a big shift as Sora has previously been locked to paying customers only. Now, Bing users can access it for free.
The launch is limited to the Bing app for mobile; desktop users will have to wait. Initial video generation can be slow, taking hours even in "fast" mode.
Users can create up to 10 video clips at no charge. Beyond that, it costs 100 Microsoft Rewards points per video. These points can be earned through Bing searches or purchases at the Microsoft Store.
So far, videos are restricted to a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio. Users can queue three clips of 5 seconds each at a time. Horizontal uploads are expected soon, catering to platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
"At launch, Bing Video Creator is not yet available on desktop, and videos can take hours to generate, even when using the ‘fast’ mode, which is supposed to take just a few minutes."
"Users can queue up to three 5-second video generations at a time."
Time will tell how users respond to this new feature as Bing continues to integrate AI capabilities.
