Meta just shook up its AI division again. The company scrapped its old AI org and replaced it with four new groups under one umbrella: Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL).

The biggest piece is TBD Labs, led by new Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang, who joined Meta in June. TBD will focus on foundational models like the Llama series, which saw its latest release in April. The other three teams will handle research, product integration, and infrastructure.

This follows reports from last week, first by The Information, that Meta was prepping this restructure. Bloomberg and The New York Times confirmed it Friday through an internal memo.

Meta has ramped up AI hiring and reshuffling this year to close the gap on OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind. Mark Zuckerberg is personally involved in building this new AI push.

This is Meta’s fourth AI reorganization in six months, aiming to speed up progress toward superintelligence.
