Meta is pushing back hard on the EU Commission’s work with the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI). The social media and AI giant claims the Commission’s efforts are choking innovation.
The issue started as Meta raised concerns about how GPAI is shaping AI governance. The company says the Commission’s approach restricts new developments instead of encouraging them.
This isn’t Meta’s first critique. They’ve repeatedly pointed out that overregulation could stall progress in AI tech. Now, this latest jab adds fuel to the ongoing debate over how governments should handle AI’s rise. 
Meta has not offered a detailed public statement this time but has been vocal through various channels about its stance.
Meta’s previous comments made it clear they view the Commission’s move as a roadblock:
