Meta just launched its AI-powered voice translation for Facebook and Instagram globally. Creators can now translate their reel voices between English and Spanish, with authentic voice dubbing and optional lip sync to match mouth movements.

The tool, live wherever Meta AI operates, aims to boost creator reach. It adapts the creator’s tone, not just the words. Early access was teased at Meta Connect last year.

Creators with 1,000+ followers on Facebook and all public Instagram accounts get this. To activate, click “Translate your voice with Meta AI” before posting a reel, toggle translation and lip sync, then share. Translations don’t replace originals and can be toggled off anytime.

Viewers see a notice for AI-translated audio and can disable translations in settings for certain languages.

Creators gain a new metric to track views by language, helping them quantify cross-lingual reach as more languages get added. Meta gave no timeline or details on which languages are next.

Meta recommends creators face forward, talk clearly, avoid overlapping dialogue, and minimize background noise.

Facebook creators can also upload up to 20 dubbed tracks manually via Meta Business Suite, with more language options pre- or post-publication.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri says:

“We believe there are lots of amazing creators out there who have potential audiences who don’t necessarily speak the same language.”

“And if we can help you reach those audiences who speak other languages, reach across cultural and linguistic barriers, we can help you grow your following and get more value out of Instagram and the platform.”

This rollout coincides with reports that Meta is restructuring its AI team again to focus on research, superintelligence, products, and infrastructure.
