Meta keeps pulling top talent from OpenAI.

The latest hires include four more researchers: Shengjia Zhao, Jiahui Yu, Shuchao Bi, and Hongyu Ren, reports The Information.

This hiring spree follows Meta’s April launch of its Llama 4 AI models, which didn’t meet CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s expectations. The company also faced criticism over the Llama version it used for a popular benchmark test.

Earlier this week, TechCrunch revealed Meta had snatched OpenAI researcher Trapit Bansal. The Wall Street Journal added that three more OpenAI researchers moved to Meta.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hinted Meta may have dangled “$100 million signing bonuses” to attract talent but claimed “none of our best people” have left yet. Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth pushed back on this narrative. He told Meta employees:

“While senior leaders may have been offered that kind of money,
the actual terms of the offer were more complex than a simple one-time signing bonus.”

Meta is clearly pulling out all the stops to boost its AI division, ratcheting up the talent war with OpenAI.
