Lyft is rolling out autonomous Benteler shuttles in late 2026.
The company announced a partnership with Austrian manufacturer Benteler Group on Friday. The shuttles will launch in collaboration with U.S. cities and airports, then possibly expand.
Benteler’s Holon-branded shuttles are fully electric and driverless—no steering wheel or pedals. They hold nine seated and six standing passengers with inward-facing seats, Bloomberg reports.
This move comes as Lyft competes with Uber, which recently added robotaxis from Waymo, WeRide, Baidu, Pony AI, and others. Uber also just announced partnerships with Nuro and Lucid Motors.
Lyft is still working on integrating autonomous vehicles. It plans to add May Mobility AVs in Atlanta this year and is collaborating with Mobileye, though details on those vehicles remain unclear.
Mobileye powers Benteler’s Holon shuttles, but Lyft told Bloomberg the deals are separate.
