Rabo launches AI-powered smart collar that tracks cat stress
Japanese startup Rabo rolled out an AI update to its smart collar for cats, Catlog_. This device, sold for ¥14,850 ($102) but currently half off, detects activities like eating, drinking, sleeping, running, walking, and grooming.
The new feature calculates a feline “stress score.” It analyzes changes in grooming, resting breathing rate, and sleep data over 30 days to gauge stress. Owners get alerts on their smartphones if the AI spots signs of distress.
Rabo says its AI draws on 10 billion data points from 46,000 cats wearing their collars. The goal: help cat owners spot issues early and get timely vet care.
CEO Yukiko Iyo spoke to Nikkei about the data-driven stress monitoring:
“Our system uses AI to assess cat stress by drawing on 10 billion data points gathered from smart collars worn by over 46,000 cats.”
The product also works as a tracker to keep tabs on cats if they roam too far.
Cat owners in Japan can buy and track their pets’ wellbeing remotely through the Catlog_ app.
This marks a new push in pet tech, using AI to improve animal care and peace of mind for owners.
