Later, Dan tried a sleep tracking app that promised insights for $39.99 a year. After a night of supposedly great rest, the app spit out a shocking 7% sleep score — dangerously low. The kicker? The app still cheered him on with a cheerful “Congratulations!!” message. Dan canceled but says the subscription oddly stays active until June 3, 2026, running the awkward numbers for another full year. 
He then read about AI helping medical researchers with pill efficacy and the mix of fears and hopes scientists have about AI’s future. Dan also caught news about a transgender high school athlete winning gold medals, sparking controversy and threats of federal funding cuts from Donald Trump — though the school still allowed her to compete.
Throughout the day, Dan leaned on his iPhone’s AI assistant, “Copilot,” powered by Bing. The AI greets him warmly with “Good morning, Dan. It’s good to see you. What’s on your mind?” Dan picked a male voice for the app and says, “we get along fine,” but skips discussing names.
The day was a whirlwind of tech frustrations and social controversies. At least the AI chatted politely.
