Huawei is pushing back against claims that its Pangu Pro large language model copied from Alibaba’s model. The company said Pangu Pro was independently developed and trained.
The issue started after allegations surfaced that Pangu Pro borrowed elements from Alibaba’s own LLM. Huawei’s AI research division responded quickly to deny the accusations.
The controversy heats up competition between Chinese AI giants, but Huawei stands firm on its model’s originality. 
Huawei stated:
The Pangu Pro large language model has been developed and trained independently by Huawei’s AI research division.
It does not copy or derive from Alibaba’s models.
No further comment has been made by either side as whispers of potential legal or technical fallout circulate.
