The EU’s AI Act is partially in force starting this weekend. Creative industry groups are already pushing back. They warn the new rules still leave gaps that don’t fully protect copyrighted work from AI training.
The issue started with the Act’s rollout, aimed at regulating AI tech. However, authors, artists, and publishers say their creations remain vulnerable. They argue AI systems could keep using copyrighted content without proper safeguards.
Soon after the Act hit, the groups flagged concerns about enforcement. They want stronger rules to stop AI models from ingesting protected material without permission.
Euronews reports the creative sectors see this as a major hurdle for copyright in the AI era. The fight over how to police AI training data is far from over.
