Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is pushing universities to build AI-ready digital talent.
The Ministry wants students trained in AI and digital skills to drive the nation’s tech future. This came during the 13th anniversary of Kosgoro 1957 Institute of Business and Informatics (IBI) in Jakarta.
Minister Meutya Hafid said the focus shifts from infrastructure to people now that networks are almost complete.
“We want AI and other advanced technologies to not only be dominated by major powers, but also serve as tools for the creativity of our nation’s youth. That’s why we’re inviting universities to collaborate.”
The Ministry is teaming up with IBI Kosgoro 1957 through MoUs to boost digital literacy, cybersecurity, and AI skills.
“Now that the network and infrastructure are nearly complete, it’s time to shift our focus to human development,” Hafid stated.
“Digital transformation will be meaningless without capable human resources ready to face the challenges of the times.”
Universities will play a key role in creating tech-savvy and responsible talent, Hafid added.
“The government cannot do this alone. We need the active role of universities and students to create a safe and efficient digital ecosystem.”
This marks a clear step toward fortifying Indonesia’s digital workforce amid rapid tech growth.
