Google is rolling out its AI Mode search feature to India, kicking off its global expansion.
Launched in the US back in March, AI Mode goes beyond basic AI Overviews. It uses Gemini 2.5 and a fan-out technique that breaks your question into multiple subtopics, firing off multiple queries at once. Your answer comes with source links so you can check where the info came from. Follow-up questions are supported too.
AI Mode can handle prompts 2-3x longer than regular search queries. You can also use voice input and add images via Google Lens. The feature works on both Android and iOS.
To access it, just tap the new AI Mode shortcut on the regular Google search bar, available on the web and mobile.
This move marks Google’s first major push beyond the US for AI-powered search.
