Good-Looking Actor Continues to Be Haunted by One Nickname After 12 Years — Seeks Clarification

Shin Sung Rok is still stuck with a nickname he never wanted — more than 12 years later.
The controversy started during his breakout role as a villain in the hit K-Drama My Love from the Star. A single comment compared his look to a “KakaoTalk dog,” the cartoon dog emoji used in the popular messaging app.
Soon after, the joke exploded online. Edited images and memes pairing him with that dog started spreading fast. Fans and viewers have kept the comparison alive for over a decade.
As the situation dragged on, Shin Sung Rok opened up about it on SBS’s Uh, But Like Seriously. He said the nickname still pops up, making him laugh but also wanting to track down who started it all.
“I really want to find the person who started it. I just want to talk.”
— Shin Sung Rok
It’s wild how one viral joke from years ago won’t quit following him.
