Getty Images has launched a major copyright lawsuit against AI company Stability AI. The case opened Monday at London’s High Court. It’s set to become a landmark fight over AI and image copyright.
Getty claims Stability AI unlawfully scraped millions of photos from its database. The photo giant says its images were used without permission to train Stability’s AI models.
The lawsuit could force big changes in how AI uses copyrighted content. Getty wants damages and a court ruling to stop AI firms from using protected images without a license. 
No word yet from Stability AI as the case begins. This is one of the first major battles testing the legal limits of AI training data.
