Chatterbox Labs slams slow AI enterprise rollout over security gaps.

CEO Danny Coleman and CTO Stuart Battersby say only about 10% of enterprises have moved AI beyond pilots. That’s despite McKinsey pegging the AI market at $4 trillion. The hold-up? Fear and uncertainty over AI safety in the workplace.

Coleman put it bluntly: enterprises aren’t ready to fully embrace AI "without it being governed and secure."

They argue traditional infosec teams aren’t equipped for AI’s unique risks. Coleman pointed to Cisco and Palo Alto Networks, who acquired AI security firms Robust Intelligence and Protect AI, as rare examples getting it right.

Battersby says companies must adopt continuous, use case-driven AI testing. Don’t trust vendors claiming their models or guardrails are “super safe.” Even legit users can exploit AI to cause harm.

Danny Coleman stated:

"What we’re trying to get across to you is that content safety filters, guardrails are not good enough."

"And it’s not going to change anytime soon. It needs to be so much more layered."

The pair want security to be an ongoing, rigorous process — not a one-and-done checklist. This could also cut costs by allowing tailored AI models sized for each case.

McKinsey’s recent report confirms: leaders want more AI investment but struggle to keep it safe at work. For now, Chatterbox Labs says the key to pushing AI’s potential is serious security testing, not blind trust.
