Elon Musk is lobbying Congress for the Autonomous Vehicle Acceleration Act. Sources told Bloomberg that Musk and his team are actively reaching out to lawmakers about the bill introduced on May 15.
The push comes as Musk has substantial stakes in Tesla’s future on AI and autonomous tech. Tesla’s upcoming launch of a small robotaxi service in Austin next month adds urgency to these efforts. The goal? To set the stage for Cybercabs—self-driving vehicles with no steering wheels or pedals.
Currently, there are no federal regulations that would enable such vehicles to operate at scale.
"Musk has bet much of Tesla’s future on AI, robotics, and autonomous vehicles."
As Congress looks at this legislation, Musk’s influence in D.C. remains strong, even after stepping back from government roles.
