DOGE’s AI tool aims to cut half of federal regulations by Trump’s return

The Department of Government Efficiency rolled out a plan to slash half of the federal government’s regulatory mandates using a new AI system called the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool, according to a Washington Post report.

The tool scans roughly 200,000 federal regulations to spot rules no longer legally required. The goal: slash half of them within a year of Donald Trump’s presidential return. A recent PowerPoint presentation shows the tool’s already been used on Housing and Urban Development rules and wrote “100% of deregulations” at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

A White House spokesperson told The Post:

“no single plan has been approved or greenlit” but praised the DOGE team as “the best and brightest in the business.”

This isn’t DOGE’s first AI rodeo. The team, initially led by Elon Musk during Trump’s early administration, also created an AI tool for Veterans Affairs contracts — one notorious for mistakenly fabricating contract sizes.

Watch this space. The AI deregulation push is just getting started.
