Anysphere, the maker of AI coding assistant Cursor, just raised $900 million at a $9.9 billion valuation, Bloomberg reports. The round was led by returning investor Thrive Capital, joined by Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and DST Global.
This is Anysphere’s third funding round in under a year. The startup pulled in $100 million late last year at a $2.5 billion valuation, according to TechCrunch’s earlier reporting.
Cursor dominates the AI coding assistant space, also called ‘vibe coders.’ Annual recurring revenue (ARR) is doubling roughly every two months, a source told TechCrunch. The company recently hit $500 million ARR, Bloomberg says, jumping 60% from $300 million in April.
Cursor’s pricing starts with a two-week free trial. After that, users choose $20 per month for pro or $40 per month for business. Until recently, most revenue came from individual subscriptions. Now, Anysphere has rolled out enterprise licenses for teams, charging more.
Earlier this year, OpenAI approached Anysphere with a potential buyout but was turned down. OpenAI instead snapped up Windsurf, another AI assistant, for about $3 billion.
The funding race for AI coding assistants continues to heat up.
