CJ ENM launched a 100% AI-generated animation and plans to push into AI film and drama this year.

The short series Cat Biggie features a cat adopting a baby chick. It’s non-verbal, runs 30 episodes at two minutes each, and drops globally on YouTube in July. The whole project took five months and a small team of six. For context, a typical 5-minute 3D animation usually takes three to four months.

CJ ENM is serious about AI. They rolled out an AI content strategy at a Seoul event, showing off tools like Cinematic AI for narrative projects and AI Script, which sifts through market data to find new IP and genre ideas.

The move comes amid protests at industry events, like Annecy Animation Festival, where AI sparked backlash over labor concerns. Despite that, CJ ENM sees AI as a full-cycle content tool, from planning to marketing.

Shin Keun-sup, CJ ENM Chief Strategy Officer, said:

“We are applying AI across the entire content value chain—including planning, production, distribution, and marketing—to expand AI content production across genres and formats.”

“This allows us to secure next-generation IP. At the same time, we’re nurturing a new generation of creators equipped with AI technology, business, and content planning expertise, and expanding our AI team to position CJ ENM as a global AI studio.”

Expect more AI-driven films and dramas from the Korean studio soon.
