Apple is building a ChatGPT rival with a new team called Answers, Knowledge, and Information, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports.
The group is designing an “answer engine” that can pull info from across the web to respond to questions. It could show up as a standalone app or boost Siri, Safari, and other Apple products with smarter search.
Apple is hiring for this team now, looking for experts in search algorithms and engine development.
Apple’s been testing ChatGPT in Siri, but a bigger AI upgrade has faced delays. The company may also need to rethink its Google search partnership after Google’s recent antitrust issues.
