Anysphere just launched a new $200/month “Ultra” plan for its AI coding tool, Cursor.

The Ultra plan offers 20x more usage of AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and xAI than the existing $20/month Pro plan. Users also get priority access to new features.

CEO Michael Truell said this was made possible through multi-year deals with AI model providers.

This follows similar high-tier subscriptions from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind, priced $100 to $250/month to target power users.

Earlier this month, Anysphere revealed Cursor hit $500 million in annual recurring revenue and is used by Nvidia, Uber, and Adobe. The company quickly went from $100M ARR to $500M in a few months.

But competition is heating up. OpenAI acquired Windsurf, a Cursor rival, to expand its AI coding lineup. Anthropic is pushing its own Claude Code tool.

Michael Truell, Anysphere CEO, stated:

“The Ultra plan was made possible through multi-year partnerships with AI model providers.”

Jared Kaplan, Anthropic co-founder, said in a TechCrunch interview:

“I believe Anthropic would be working with Cursor for a long time.”

Still, rising tensions exist: Anthropic recently cut Windsurf’s access to Claude models, undercutting OpenAI.

Anysphere is also building its own AI models. It launched the “Tab” model in May, which can suggest code changes across multiple files.

The race for AI coding dominance is intensifying and Anysphere is betting big on Ultra subscriptions to keep growth surging.
