Air India flight crashes after failing to achieve thrust on takeoff in Ahmedabad. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner slammed into a medical college hostel moments after a Mayday call from the cockpit.

The pilot’s last words confirmed the issue:

"Thrust not achieved… falling… Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!"

Ahmedabad police verified the distress call reached air traffic control just before all communication stopped. The jet overran the 3.5km Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport runway—longer than usual for a wide-body jet, which typically needs 2.5-3km.

An investigation source said:

"The longer runway roll hints at a possibility of the aircraft not having adequate thrust for take-off."

No prior warnings or adjustments were requested. Weather was clear, visibility good, and temperature within operational limits. CCTV confirmed the extended takeoff roll, with no visual or radar anomalies, engine irregularities, or pitch deviations detected.

Authorities are now awaiting black box data to determine the exact cause of the thrust failure.
