Trackhouse Racing’s Ai Ogura will miss Aragon MotoGP after tibia fracture

Trackhouse Racing announced Ai Ogura will sit out the Aragon Grand Prix. The Moto2 world champ crashed during FP1 at Silverstone last month, breaking his right tibia just below the knee.

Ogura had keyhole surgery soon after the crash. The team hoped he could recover in time for Aragon, but a medical check on Thursday ruled him unfit to race.

Trackhouse shared this update from Dr. Juan Monllau, who performed the surgery:

Ai Ogura underwent a further medical assessment this afternoon, with Dr. Juan Monllau, the surgeon who carried out the keyhole surgery to repair a fracture to the top of his right Tibia. While recovery progress is positive, unfortunately, the medical advice is that Ai is not yet sufficiently healed to allow him to ride in the Grand Prix of Aragon, this weekend.

Ogura will continue rehab aiming for a return at Mugello, the Italian GP in two weeks.

Trackhouse confirmed they will run a single rider entry at Aragon with Raul Fernandez.

“All at Trackhouse are disappointed that Ai is unable to get out on track but are fully supportive of the need for him to be fit to ride, before he gets aboard the #79 Trackhouse Aprilia RS-GP25. The team will continue to do everything possible to support him in his recovery and look forward to seeing him back soon.”
