Waymo is rolling out its Jaguar I-Pace SUV and Zeekr van to Denver and Seattle this week. Both cities will start with manually driven vehicles. Autonomous testing comes next.
The company aims to launch robotaxis in Denver next year and in Seattle “as soon as we’re permitted to do so.”
Denver and Seattle offer tougher weather challenges like snow, wind, and rain—conditions Waymo hasn’t faced much in places like Phoenix.
This move adds to Waymo’s expanding U.S. footprint. The fleet now has over 2,000 robotaxis: 800 in San Francisco Bay Area, 500 in Los Angeles, 400 in Phoenix, 100 in Austin, and dozens in Atlanta.
Waymo plans commercial launches next year in Dallas, Miami, and Washington, D.C. It also just secured a permit to test in New York City.
Other cities have seen Waymo’s cars on “road trips,” including Philadelphia, with upcoming stops in Las Vegas, San Diego, Houston, Orlando, and San Antonio.
