Popular Female Idol Cast as Lead in “Freaky” Webtoon Adaptation

Chuu is facing controversy over her new acting role in a mature K-Drama adaptation.
Kidari Studio announced on April 28 KST they are producing a drama based on the adult webtoon Wild Eyes (Korean title Gwang An). Chuu plays the female lead Eun Woo, opposite actor Bang Sung Joon as Crown Prince Lee Hyun.
The webtoon is a historical fiction palace romance, but it includes explicit scenes. The first episode reportedly starts with a graphic sex scene between the leads. Filming is already done, with the project now in post-production.
Fans and netizens reacted strongly to this steep shift for Chuu. Many were shocked by the adult content and worried how Chuu’s image might be affected.

Despite the uproar, many fans show strong support for Chuu branching out.
“But anyway I think it’s great that Chuu wants to get more involved in acting. She’s already proven several times that she’s capable and does a great job. I’m curious to see how she’ll do it, since her character is supposed to play a major role in the story.”

“how many times does chuu have to make it clear she wants to be taken seriously outside of the image bbc created for her (when she was 18 mind u) for yall to start seeing her as an independent adult who can stand up for herself and make her own decisions bc quite frankly im tired”
