Google launches Pixel Buds 2a and upgrades Pixel Buds Pro 2 with AI noise control and gesture calls
Google rolled out new AI features for its earbuds at Wednesday’s Made By Google event. The Pixel Buds 2a get active noise cancellation and AI-powered Clear Calling to cut background noise. The budget earbuds also add Transparency Mode and Gemini hands-free AI support for voice commands. Battery life doubles over the last A-Series model. The 2a will cost $130, up from under $100 before, with new Hazel and Iris colors.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2, initially released last year, score major AI perks. You can accept or decline calls and texts by nodding or shaking your head. The earbuds use built-in sensors to detect these gestures. Gemini AI now links with apps like Keep and Calendar for hands-free task management. Adaptive Audio tunes noise cancellation depending on your surroundings. Loud Noise Protection cuts sudden loud sounds like sirens.
The Pro 2 will get these features in a software update coming in September. A new Moonstone color debuts. Pixel Buds Pro 2 cost $230.
Preorders open now. Pro 2 ships August 28. Pixel Buds 2a arrive October 9.
