Google launched the Pixel 10 series packed with new AI features, rushing ahead of Apple’s iPhone 17 reveal. The Pixel 10 ships with the Tensor G5 chip, powering advanced AI tools like Visual Overlays, Magic Cue, Camera Coach, Voice Translate, and more.
Last year’s Pixel 9 introduced AI functions like Gemini Live conversations, which Google says last five times longer than texts. This year, Gemini Live adds an audio model that detects your tone and adjusts responses.
Visual Overlays use the camera to highlight info in your view—like parking signs when traveling abroad. Magic Cue offers proactive, contextual suggestions inside apps like Gmail and Calendar, reviving Google Now’s real-time info cards but powered by AI.
Magic Cue suggestions come in a rainbow outline and appear within apps or the Daily Hub in your Discover feed. It can remind you to return online orders, research topics, or stream playlists. At launch, suggestions focus on tasks like settling tabs and calendar events, with future expansions planned.
Camera Coach previews on Pixel 10 offer AI tips to improve your shots and inspire new photo ideas. The camera also features Auto Best Take, picking the perfect group photo from 150 frames, and the Ask Photos tool lets you edit images with AI by voice or text.
Pixel 10 phones debut the C2PA standard to track photo origin and edits, helping identify AI-modified images.
Voice Translate works on-device for real-time call translation in 11 languages including English, Spanish, German, Japanese, and more. It mimics speakers’ voices and aims to help travelers and business users.
Take a Message transcribes missed and declined calls and uses AI to suggest your next steps from voicemail.
Pixel Journal competes with Apple Journal, using AI to prompt sharing, goal tracking, and insights.
Other Pixel 10 AI updates include improved writing tools in Gboard, Pixel Studio screenshot features, and Notebook LM integration for Recorder and screenshots.
Apple is still working on AI-powered Siri, delayed until 2026, leaving Google ahead in AI-driven smartphone features.
