Eight Sleep raised $100 million in new funding, pushing its total haul to around $260 million. The New York startup is aiming to go unicorn fast. Investors include HSG, Valor Equity Partners, Founders Fund, plus F1 drivers Charles Leclerc and McLaren CEO Zak Brown.

The last time Eight Sleep raised major cash was 2021, with an $86 million Series C putting it at a $500 million valuation. The company says its valuation has doubled since then.

Alexandra Zatarain, co-founder and CMO, told TechCrunch:

“If we successfully execute our AI roadmap, launch internationally, and develop condition-specific interventions, achieving unicorn status will naturally follow,”

Eight Sleep’s flagship product, the Pod mattress, uses AI to track sleep stages, heart rate, breathing, movement, and adjusts temperature, elevation, and firmness automatically. It even detects snoring and adjusts the base in response.

The company claims Pod sales topped $500 million with a 10x revenue jump since 2019 and has collected data from over one billion hours of sleep.

Now, Eight Sleep is pushing beyond mattresses with its Sleep Agent system. This AI leverages large language models to create digital twins of users, predicting outcomes for personalized recovery plans. The focus is shifting from reactive sleep tracking to proactive intervention.

The startup competes in a crowded sleep tech market with players like Oura, Fitbit, Apple, ResMed, Sleep Number, and ChiliSleep.

Eight Sleep stands out with its Autopilot feature, which builds a sleep blueprint from night one and adapts continuously. It accounts for factors like travel, stress, illness, and works independently on each side of the bed, Zatarain said.

The new funds will accelerate Eight’s push into medical tech. Its Health Check tool monitors cardiovascular and respiratory patterns at 99% accuracy—no wearables needed. The data aims to complement medical care, not replace doctors.

Zatarain explained:

“We’re not replacing your doctor, but we are giving you nightly, high-accuracy health monitoring so you can act early if trends shift. Over time, this data can complement medical care,”

Eight recently launched Hot Flash Mode, using AI cooling to ease menopause symptoms. It is also developing contactless sleep apnea solutions with FDA approval in sight, combining Pod’s biometric monitoring with personalized treatments.

The company ships to 30+ countries, including Canada, UK, EU, Australia, Mexico, and the UAE. China is next, driven by a health-focused middle class.

On data privacy, Zatarain said:

“Privacy is foundational. All data is encrypted, never sold, and fully private. We comply with GDPR and CCPA, and unlike many devices, we don’t use microphones. Our biometric sensors are embedded in the bed surface — no wearables, no invasiveness, just passive, high-accuracy insights,”
