Nvidia is doubling down on AI and quantum computing with fresh moves that put it at the center of both hot tech fields.

Nvidia’s GPUs remain the backbone of AI work. Its new Blackwell architecture is already live with hyperscalers like CoreWeave and Nebius. CoreWeave bragged about being first to roll out Blackwell GPUs for AI, graphics, and HPC workloads this July. Meanwhile, Nebius opened Europe access and plans a New Jersey data center dedicated solely to Blackwell-powered AI.

But Nvidia isn’t just about AI. It’s tackling quantum computing too — by blending it with AI supercomputing. Nvidia’s new Boston research center will combine its GB200 Grace Blackwell AI superchip with quantum hardware to speed up fixing quantum issues like qubit noise.

In Japan, Nvidia supplied 2,020 H100 GPUs linked by Quantum-2 InfiniBand to AIST’s ABC1-Q, the world’s largest quantum research supercomputer. That rig runs Nvidia’s open-source CUDA-Q platform to handle massive quantum applications.

Tim Costa, Nvidia’s senior director of quantum and AI engineering, said:

Seamlessly coupling quantum hardware with AI supercomputing will accelerate realizing the promise of quantum computing for all. Nvidia’s collaboration with AIST will catalyze progress in areas like quantum error correction and applications development — crucial for building useful, accelerated quantum supercomputers.

Nvidia stands out as one of the few companies pushing forward in both AI and quantum tech simultaneously. Its stock trades at around 56 times trailing earnings, below its five-year average of 70, making it a notable pick for investors wanting exposure to both sectors.

The AI-quantum race just got a major player doubling down. Investors should keep a close watch.
