Police in eastern Spain are investigating a 17-year-old boy for using AI to create and sell fake nude images of female schoolmates online.
The issue started in December after a student found a social media account in her name with AI-generated nude videos. The Guardia Civil discovered multiple accounts showing fake naked photos of minors, all manipulated digitally.
Soon after, 15 other students reported similar abuses. Police traced the accounts back to the suspect by tracking IP addresses, emails, and social media activity. The youth court in Valencia is now handling the case. 
This comes after a similar 2023 case. Fifteen minors in Extremadura got probation for using AI to produce and share fake nudes of classmates via WhatsApp groups. They were also required to attend sex and equality education classes.
The Malvaluna Association, which supported the affected families, stressed the bigger issue:
“Beyond this particular trial, these facts should make us reflect on the need to educate people about equality between men and women,” the association said to ElDiario.es.
It said the case underlined the necessity of proper sex education at school so that children did not learn about sex from pornography, which “generates more sexism and violence”.
Spain’s government is working on new laws that would criminalize online grooming and the non-consensual use of AI sexual imagery. The plan aims to better protect young people from AI-driven abuse.
The investigation highlights growing worries over how AI tools enable digital abuse, especially among minors.
