Samsung is expanding its AI game beyond Google’s Gemini. The company is in talks with OpenAI and Perplexity to bring their AI services to upcoming Galaxy phones, likely starting with the Galaxy S26 series.

Samsung’s mobile division chief, Choi Won-Joon, told Reuters the company is open to any AI that delivers the best user experience. No final deals yet, but the company is close to investing in Perplexity and integrating its app and assistant. OpenAI is also in the mix, but Samsung isn’t planning an investment there.

Choi also commented on Apple’s rumored foldable phone, saying it could help the whole industry, which Samsung currently dominates.

Samsung is still weighing its SoC options for Galaxy S26, choosing between the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and the Exynos 2600.

Choi Won-Joon stated:

We’re talking to multiple vendors. As long as these AI agents are competitive and can provide the best user experiences, we are open to any AI agent out there.
