Google has launched a new AI-powered coding tool called Opal. It’s live now in the U.S. through Google Labs for early testing.
Opal generates mini web apps from simple text prompts. Users type what app they want, and Google’s AI models build it. You can also remix apps from a public gallery.
Once an app is created, Opal shows a visual workflow with input, output, and generation steps. Users can click each step to view or edit the underlying prompt. You can even add new steps manually from Opal’s toolbar.
Apps made with Opal can be published online and shared via links for others to test with their Google accounts.
Google’s existing AI studio already builds apps from prompts, but Opal’s visual editor suggests it’s aimed at a broader, less technical audience.
Opal joins competitors like Canva, Figma, and Replit in making no-code or low-code tools to help non-developers prototype apps fast.
