Babydoll Archi Instagram account was a viral fake AI stunt. The account shot to 1.4 million followers in days, riding on a seductive dance video and a photo with adult film star Kendra Lust. But the profile behind the hits? Not a real influencer. Just an AI-generated deepfake.

The face belonged to a real woman, Sanchi, a homemaker in Assam, India. Her ex-boyfriend, Pratim Bora, a mechanical engineer and self-taught AI fan, created the fake profile in revenge after their breakup. He used Sanchi’s private photos to build the AI likeness and filled the account with deepfake images and videos.

Senior police officer Sizal Agarwal explained the motive:

"Sanchi and Bora had a falling out and the AI likeness he created was to exact ‘pure revenge’ on her."

"Bora used tools such as ChatGPT and Dzine to create an AI version. He then populated the handle with deepfake photos and videos."

Police arrested Bora on July 12 in Tinsukia district after tracing him through Instagram data. They seized his devices and bank records, noting he earned roughly 1 million rupees (~$12,000 USD) from subscriptions before his arrest.

The fake account launched in 2020, initially with morphed real photos, then shifted to full AI deepfakes. Sanchi herself was unaware of the profile until media coverage speculated she might enter the US porn industry — a shock to her and her family.

The police complaint only surfaced after widespread media attention. Instagram has yet to respond to requests for more info or actions against the account, which is now offline but its content remains heavily circulated.

AI expert Meghna Bal weighed in:

"What happened to Sanchi is horrible but almost impossible to prevent."

"The photos and videos being circulated as revenge is not new, but AI makes it easier."

"Cases like these may be under-reported due to stigma or victims not knowing."

The police charged Bora with offenses including sexual harassment, defamation, and cybercrime, carrying penalties up to 10 years in prison.

The case highlights the dark side of AI-generated deepfakes being weaponized for personal vendettas. With many calls for tougher law enforcement, experts caution that laws must balance preventing abuse without stifling free speech.

Babydoll Archi’s story is a chilling reminder: AI can create viral stars overnight — but not all fame is real.
