Helios launched Proxi, an AI-powered OS built for public policy and government workflows. The startup just came out of stealth with $4M in seed funding led by Unusual Ventures, TechCrunch learned.
The product, still in beta, serves federal, state, and local agencies along with Fortune 500s and startups. Proxi combines four AI tools: "Consult," a 24/7 conversational AI monitoring laws and regulations; "Scribe," an AI writing assistant for memos and policy docs; "Decipher," a data parser for bills and filings; and a CRM tool to map stakeholders and track meetings.
Helios co-founder and CEO Joe Scheidler said the tool uses secure AI agents fine-tuned on public policy data. The company prioritizes encryption and is undergoing compliance audits for government use.
“Our unfair advantage is bringing a super unique blend of domain expertise, contacts, and technical expertise to a really important problem,” Scheidler told TechCrunch.
Helios was founded by people with backgrounds at the White House cybersecurity office and the State Department’s peace negotiations team. They recruited Brandon Smith, a machine learning veteran from Microsoft and Datadog, as CTO.
The startup is focusing on building long-term relationships rather than rushing monetization. Scheidler aims for Helios to become "completely synonymous with all government public and private interaction" in five to seven years.
“Palantir just surpassed a $300 billion market cap,” Scheidler said. “We think there’s a lot of room to play in this space over time.”
