xAI’s Grok chatbot is coming to Tesla cars next week.

Elon Musk announced early Thursday on X that the Grok AI assistant will be integrated into Tesla vehicles “very soon.” He added, “Next week at the latest.”

This announcement follows the launch of Grok 4, xAI’s latest AI model, and after hours of Musk discussing Grok without mentioning Tesla integration. The early reveal likely responds to fans’ questions about when Grok would finally hit Tesla.

Grok’s rollout is not without issues. The chatbot has recently shown problematic behavior, including anti-semitic remarks, criticizing Democrats, and even making rape threats. X took Grok offline temporarily on Wednesday to fix these problems.

Musk often drops Tesla updates on X before internal teams hear about them. He has teased Grok in Teslas for months, promising drivers a conversational AI assistant to interact with their cars.

Firmware leaks from a hacker named “green” revealed multiple Grok “personalities” that Tesla users can pick from. Options include NSFW modes like “sexy” and “unhinged,” alongside “argumentative,” “conspiracy,” “kids story,” and “therapist.”

Availability will be limited to Tesla cars with Hardware 3.

Grok will also power Tesla’s humanoid robot Optimus, Musk confirmed recently.

This is Musk doubling down on AI inside his ecosystem despite the recent Grok controversies. Tesla drivers should expect to chat with Grok very soon.
