OpenAI is rolling out an AI-powered web browser to take on Google Chrome. The launch could come in the next few weeks, Reuters reports.

The browser will use AI to change how people browse, similar to Perplexity’s Comet and The Browser Company’s Dia. Instead of just linking out to websites, some user interactions might stay inside ChatGPT. OpenAI’s web-browsing AI agent, Operator, could be a major feature.

OpenAI had already considered building a browser to compete with Google Chrome in 2024, The Information revealed. The company likely wants direct user data access and more control over new user experiences without relying on Google.
