OpenAI is rolling out a new ChatGPT feature called “Study Together” for some subscribers.
Users report seeing it pop up in their tool options. This mode flips the script on usual ChatGPT responses. Instead of just giving answers, it asks questions and makes users engage actively. Think of it as OpenAI’s answer to Google’s LearnLM.
There’s buzz about a possible future group study mode, where multiple people can join in one chat. OpenAI hasn’t confirmed any details yet.
The feature aims to push ChatGPT beyond just a homework shortcut. It could encourage students to learn rather than cheat as critics say AI tools can do.
OpenAI gave this response when asked about wider release or Plus subscription requirements:
“OpenAI hasn’t officially announced when or if Study Together will be available to all users — or if it will require ChatGPT Plus.”
