Trump administration’s spending bill raises chipmaker tax credit to 35%

The Trump administration’s latest spending bill draft just boosted the tax credit for semiconductor manufacturers building U.S. plants. The credit jumps from 25% to 35%, CNBC reports.

Big chipmakers like Intel, TSMC, and Micron Technology stand to benefit if they expand their U.S. manufacturing.

This comes after recent export restrictions on advanced AI chips to China hit domestic chipmakers’ revenue hard. The bigger tax credit could give the industry a much-needed lift.

The bill already passed the Senate and now awaits final approval.

This move aims to keep chip production competitive on home soil amid global supply chain tensions.
