Tesla delivered 384,122 vehicles in Q2 2025 — down 13.5% from Q2 2024. Another weak quarter as Tesla struggles to regain last year’s sales pace.

This drop marks a potential two-year decline in total sales for Tesla, a sharp falloff from its past 50% annual growth claims. Q2 sales barely improved from Q1, Tesla’s worst delivery quarter in more than two years.

CEO Elon Musk said Q1 production slowed due to factory line shutdowns prepping the upgraded Model Y. No planned shutdowns happened in Q2, but some Model Y and Cybertruck workers were reportedly told to stay home for days in late May.

Tesla’s official earnings report drops July 23 with the full financial impact.

Last week Musk fired Omead Afshar, VP over manufacturing and sales in the US and Europe. Musk says he’s cutting Trump administration time to focus more on Tesla and his other businesses. Since then, Tesla launched a limited Robotaxi service in Austin. Bloomberg reports Musk is taking over Afshar’s sales role.

Other automakers are also seeing EV sales dips: Ford’s US EV sales fell 31% YoY in Q2. Hyundai and Kia sales dropped, too. GM bucked the trend with YoY growth thanks to new models. Tesla’s numbers are global.

Tesla has pushed major price cuts, low-interest promos, and model upgrades to lift sales. The Model Y facelift is its most visible update. The company’s teased cheaper, stripped-down models to start production in H1, but no confirmation yet. Musk ditched plans for a $25K next-gen Cybercab platform car.

Tesla is clearly struggling to hit growth targets while retooling leadership and product strategies. Watch for updates on July 23.
